Luiza Zhuleva, soprano

Russian-born Luiza Zhuleva made her operatic debut in 2006 as Susanna (The Marriage of Figaro) on the stage of Nizhny Novgorod Rostropovich Philharmonic. She went to perform main roles in operas as Marguerite in Faust, Serpina in La Serva Padrona, and Tatiana in Eugene Onegin in her native Nizhny Novgorod and Saint Petersburg in Russia.

In 2007 after moving to Canada, she was engaged by Opera In Concert to make her Canadian debut in the title role of The Snow Maiden. Over the next four-year period Ms. Zhuleva was a member of Inna's Golsband's vocal studio.

She appeared as Gorislava in Glinka's Ruslan & Lyudmila in Opera in Concert 2010-2011 season and was invited to sing the role of Ilka in Toronto Operetta's production of Countess Maritza.

Since then, Luiza has performed in numerous recitals in the Greater Toronto Area, including her own project of Classical Russian Music, performed by various young opera singers. She attended the prestigious Canadian Operatic Arts Academy where she worked with such musicians like Martin Kats, Simone Luti, and Chantel Lambert.

Since 2012, Luiza has been studying with David Varjabed to refine her belcanto technique and performed as soloist with Opere Belcanto of York (Ines in Il Trovatore by Verdi) and Tosca by Puccini.

 

Luiza's 2013 engagements included  both Violetta and Annina (La Traviata by Verdi) at the Highlands Opera Studio in Haliburton, ON with vocal coach Valerie Kuinka, tenor Richard Margison, conductpr Miloš Repickύ, dramatic soprano Ambur Braid, tenor Adam Luther and baritone Geoffrey Sirett.

In Fall of 2013 she relocated to Ekaterinburg, Russia but returned to Toronto for 3 appearances with Toronto Concert Orchestra of Maestro Kerry Stratton in Casa Loma Castle, Belle Voci in 2015, Che Belle Voci in 2016 and Romanov-100 in 2018.

In Ekaterinburg Luiza has created her own opera ensemble called "Neskochnaya Opera" and is currently performing with them.
